Public consultation

Biffa is committed to informing the local community about its plans and giving people the opportunity to discuss these with the team. However, as we have now submitted our planning application to Leicestershire County Council, our initial consultation process is completed. We recommend that comments about our proposals are now directed to the County Council as part of the formal planning consultation process.

We undertook a programme of public engagement before we submitted our planning application in December 2009. This included this website, brochures distributed in the local community, public exhibitions, meetings with local groups and meetings of the Newhurst Quarry Site Liaison Group (Now renamed the Charnwood Energy Recovery Facility Liaison Group). This group includes members of the public, local town, district and county councillors, district and county council officers, representatives of the Environment Agency, and Biffa. It aims to facilitate constructive dialogue about issues relating to our proposed energy facility and will continue to meet as the planning process continues.

Public exhibitions

The public exhibitions were held on Saturday 19th September at Shepshed Town Council Offices and on Sunday 20th September in the David Collett Suite at Loughborough University campus.

We will continue to keep the community advised of any relevant actions or changes during the planning process and will post such information on this website when appropriate.
